June flew past didn’t it? We baled. It rained. We calved. It rained again. I’m not complaining about the rain as it was a delight after such a dry spring.
What’s blooming?
Water keeps plants alive but rain makes things thrive. So true, once the twenty-one day drought was over, everything began to spring in action…including the weeds (this is a rated G newsletter so we will save that topic for another time).
We have some gorgeous dahlias this year and are having a good-time naming them over on Instagram. So far we have Peach Sunrise, Seattle, Miss Delight and more that are in need of a good name including a newly opening dark purple one that is absolutely dramatic.
The Flower Stand will be open on the Farm every
Friday from 3:00 pm – 6:00pm and
Saturday mornings from 8:00am – noon.
Weather pending of course.
Dahlias, bachelor buttons, oriental lilies, coneflowers, Shasta daisies, sunflowers, cosmos, and zinnias are exploding in the garden, just ready to find a happy spot in your home. Stop by the farm stand or call me for a special order.
What’s going on with the farm?
Four new faces have joined the farm. We couldn’t be more happy to announce Cora Crawley (IYKYK), Little Caesar, Calvin, and Coco Chanel. All were born unassisted, healthy and spunky. How spunky you ask? So spunky that their preferred game is Keep Away, as in, “let’s keep away from Mom by walking under the electric fence to the other pasture where she can’t find us.” If you are in our neighborhood and hear a cow bawling, no need for concern. It’s just our ornery calves giving their moms white hair.
Need eggs?
Eggs are available in our roadside cooler with the flowers on Fridays, from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm, and Saturdays, 8:00 am – noon, weather permitting. Hour changes will be posted on Facebook.
If you need another pickup time, give us a call to schedule.
We wish you all a healthy and safe month of July and will chat again in August between soccer practices!
